The beginnings of the 2024 show team, four gilts and a boar. it has been a bit wet through autumn so now they are in until it dries out a bit. None have names yet, that will be up to the grandchildren to choose.
Berkshire Pigs
Amber won her class at South Suffolk in 2023 and was best of breed, and competed in the champion of champions in September.
Barry won his class and was reserve best of breed at Suffolk Show 2023. We attended Yorkshire Show as Pig of the Year qualifier.

Victor Our stock boar is Victor, a homebred Ambassador boar, a very handsome chap, he loves a chat and a back rub. Now 8 yrs old now.
Tentrees Peter Lad -

Very pleased with my Peter Lad, August 2018 boar. His is so easy to handle. He had been running with some of the older ladies for litters in Autumn. Always produces good sized litters.
Tentrees Namatjira - BJ He is the latest young boar added to our herd, homebred. He is a June 2019 boar, and have had some good litters. A boar from one of the litters has done exceptionally well in the show ring.

daughter of Emily. She is in pig due in May, ready for Open Farm Sunday. Two of her previous litter,
Barry and Amber, were champions through 2023, and swept the board as a pair.
Blackops Mermaid, Emily. She had a litter again to Victor, they get on well together, in February. I hope to pick a couple to show this year.
I have brought back 2 gilts from Holly (Boxwood Excelsa) and Serena (Boxwood Lady) to show in 2024 add to the breeding herd. Also a rather special boar from Holly (Boxwood Peter Lad)
Tentrees Suzanne - Katie. The latest new gilt to the herd. Hoping she will grow into something special. She has had an October litter of 12 to Barry, the 2022 Peter Lad boar. I have identified a lovely boar for the show team this year.
Oldcastle Royal Sapphire -Saffy - We have a new member of the herd, a Royal Sapphire from Wales, to bring a breed line to East Anglia that has been missing. She had her first litter in February.
Tentrees Stonebow - Luna. Reserve champion female in the Champions of Champions 2022. She has a litter of 12 chunky piglets early January with BJ.
I have bought back two in pig Tentrees Stonebow sisters, Penny and Poppy, they farrowed in August, two of their gilts will be in this years show team.

We have never had any problem with raising boars for meat if they are not mixed in with the gilts, in fact they tend to be bigger and leaner.
