Ten Trees Berkshire pigs
Whats happening this week

Berkshires
I took Pippi to South Suffolk show in May, she returned with the Supreme Chamiponship!   We also took her to the Royal Norfolk where she was Reserve Supreme Champion to the Kiddy's Hampshire boar that we beat at South Suffolk, the better pig on the day.  She qualified for the Berkshire Champion of Champions in September, but she will have a new litter by then.  We also took one of her boars from the February litter, just to see how he would do.  He was Champion Traditional boar and qualified for Young Pig of the Year at Hatfiled!  Very exciting.

Our Berkshire Boar
I have chosen a Freight Train boar to keep out of the batch of weaners I had.  He is a lovely soul, one of the reasons for keeping him, but also looks a good sort.            Thomas has served Pippi sucessfully, and she has produced 11 gorgeous piglets.  He is now running with all four girls for piglets in the new year.

 Weaners

Louise produced 7 lovely piglets, 6 gilts and a boar, at the beginning of July.  I will keep the gilt for the show season next year; see how she turns out.  This Thomas's first litter, and I am really pleased with the quality.

Pippi farrowed in September having been covered by Thomas; the 11 piglets are really lovely, I will have a hard job choosing the best of them.  The rest will go to the butcher in March to provide some pork packs for sale.

Pippi & Louise will farrow again in February.  Weaners will be available in April, so please contact us if you would like to order in advance.

Berkshire Boar  for Sale

My prizewinning February boar was sold at the BPA show & sale and has gone to Reading to get to work, I am looking forward to maybe seeing some of his offspring next year.

Louise's July boar is turning into a nice pig and has now gone to be with 2 little gilts.

I plan to bring on one of Pippi's little boars born in September for showing or for sale.  They are all a little muddy at present!
